It’s important to us that you feel confident in our care from your first appointment to your last.
Your first visit to our practice is one of the most important you’ll have, which is why we’ve put together this guide on what to expect from it. Keep reading below to learn more!
Welcome to a winning smile
Whether you schedule an appointment with our Yelm, Lakewood, or Lacey office, our team will greet you warmly as soon as you arrive. You’ll be given a brief tour to help you feel more comfortable with your surroundings and then we’ll look over your medical and dental history before taking a few digital photographs of your teeth. If we want to get a better idea of your particular orthodontic needs, we may also choose to do some x-rays or scans. This allows us to get a look at your teeth, jaw, and anything happening beneath the surface of your gums as well.
Next, you’ll be introduced to Dr. Leavitt as he performs a thorough oral examination. During this exam, he may ask if you’ve had any problems with chewing, swallowing, or opening and closing your mouth. The results of your exam, your dental history, and the images that we collect are what we refer to as diagnostic records. These give Dr. Leavitt what he needs to make an initial diagnosis and create a personalized treatment plan for your unique smile!
We don’t want any of our patients to feel like we’re rushing them through their appointments, especially the very first one. You can expect this initial visit with us to last about an hour or so. This gives us plenty of time to meet you, get to know a bit about each other, and perform an exam. It also means we can take our time discussing your diagnosis and addressing any questions you may have at this point. Our team will also walk you through:
- any oral issues you’ve been experiencing
- if treatment is needed immediately or if we recommend waiting
- what treatment options are available to you
- an estimate of how long we expect treatment to take
- the total investment required for your new smile
- our payment or financing options
Here at Whitewater Orthodontic Studio, we don’t believe in cookie-cutter treatment. We’re proud to provide our patients with individualized care based on their specific needs, lifestyle, and goals. By customizing our approach in this way, we’re able consistently produce superior, long-lasting results.
Investing in your oral health
Once you’ve gone over all your options with Dr. Leavitt, we’ll take a look at the total investment needed for your new smile. Each case is different and every patient responds to treatment in their own way, so the total treatment costs will always vary from person to person. At Whitewater Orthodontic Studio, you never have to worry about hidden fees or surprise charges! We will outline everything included in your treatment plan and ensure you understand exactly what to expect before the active phase of your treatment ever begins.
Your smile is yours forever, we believe that everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable orthodontic care. For your convenience, we accept most major credit cards and insurance plans. We also offer flexible payment plans to fit every budget! If you have dental insurance that covers orthodontic treatment, our team will be happy to help you with your claims and paperwork.
What happens next?
Now it’s time to kick off the active phase of your treatment! After your consultation, we’ll schedule an appointment for Dr. Leavitt to place or fit your new orthodontic appliance. This will generally take about an hour, and during this time our team will be available to make sure that you are as comfortable as possible.
Depending on the type of appliance you have, you’ll have follow-up visits in the office of your choice every 4-8 weeks or so. During these check-ups, Dr. Leavitt will assess your progress and ensure that your teeth are moving in a healthy way. If you’re wearing traditional braces, he’ll also take this time to make any necessary adjustments.
These visits are an essential part of the treatment process, so it’s important that you don’t miss them! We’ll always do our best to schedule your appointments for a day and time that is convenient for you, but we know that sometimes life gets in the way of even the best plans. If there’s a day when you’re running late or can’t make your appointment for some reason, we simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible. We’ll be happy to reschedule your appointment for another day so we can keep your treatment plan on track!
